The Swell Season

A love story is always told best through song. "The Swell Season" dares to tell the true love story behind the two prolific, Oscar-winning songwriters who make up the folk band. The hopeful romance of the duo's first fictional film, "Once," fades into black and white with this honest, touching and contemplative documentary. The one thing that remains through the fame, grueling tours, and eventual heartbreak is the musical bond between them - which has never come to life so intensely on screen.

Expertly shot in black & white, the filmmakers follow the pair over the course of three years of touring after their immediate, and sudden fame in 2007. Their song "Falling Slowly" won Irish singer Glen Hansard and Czech musician Marketa Irglova both Oscars, although the similarity in how they dealt with sudden success ended at the podium speeches. Charmingly un-polished and disarming, the intimacy of each shot, story and live performance makes you fall in love all over again with this unique duo.

In the end, it's all about the music! And every fan of "The Swell Season" should watch this DVD for the bonus performances alone. Over 45 minutes of extra live concert and recording footage from around the world pull you even deeper into the magical lull of their haunting sound.

If you loved "Once" you will fall in love all over again with "The Swell Season." Dare to go behind the music and pick up a copy today!
